Highlights from the 25th Anniversary Gesu Gala

Thank you to all who supported the 25th Anniversary Gesu Gala! The gala drew nearly 500 attendees and raised more than $500,000! Gesu is grateful for this incredible support for our mission. Your generosity enables Gesu School to deliver innovative, holistic education and ensure that North Philadelphia’s children achieve bright futures.

The gala celebrated Gesu’s 25th year as an independent Catholic school and a national model of inner-city education. Congratulations to Gesu Spirit Medalist Winston J. Churchill, Founding Chairman. We are grateful to Senator Bob Casey, former Gesu 5th Grade Math Teacher and Basketball Coach through Jesuit Volunteer Corps, for attending and sharing about the transformative experience he had teaching at Gesu and its impact on his life.

The Gesu Gospel Choir inspired the audience, performing "Wake Up Everybody" and a special tribute to the Spirit Medalist. Thank you to Gesu’s Choir Director, H.L. Ratliff.

Dancing with the Students shared a high-energy ballroom performance of tango, swing, and meringue. Our thanks to Gesu Board Member Susan Martinelli Shea, President of Dancing with the Students.

Daryl J. Shore ’94, Gesu Board Member and Honorary Gala Co-Chair, delivered a moving speech about Gesu's providing a foundation for his personal development, educational success through graduate school, and in his business career in New York City. 

Gesu’s talented young artists created pieces ranging from acrylic painting to plaster art and oil pastel. Thanks to Art Teacher Linda Hartzell for her leadership of the gorgeous art auction.

The Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue was a lovely setting.
