2018 Gesu Gala, “Mapping Bright Futures,” a Success!

Thank you to all who supported the 2018 Gesu Gala! Your generosity, time, prayer, and presence enable Gesu School to deliver the highest quality education and to ensure that each child achieves his or her bright future.

The gala drew 325 attendees! We raised more than $385,000 in total, including $55,000 through our auctions and $40,000 for Gesu’s after-school program. We are so grateful for this incredible support for our mission. Enjoy the below photos and videos from the evening. Watch this special thank you message from Gesu students!

Congratulations to 2018 Spirit Medal recipients, J. Gordon Cooney, Jr. and Steve Piltch, whose commitment to Gesu School and urban education is extraordinary. Enjoy these videos highlighting their contributions to Gesu’s community.

Special thanks to all of our sponsors and 2018 Presenting Sponsors, M & S Foundation and Morgan Lewis. We extend our gratitude to the 2018 Gala committee members and co-chairs: Jack & Tammy Dodds, Ed & Georgine Trumpbour, and Kevin & Karen Lucey. Their efforts made the evening such a success.

The Gesu Gospel Choir inspired the audience with their gift of song, performing “Melodies from Heaven” and “This Is Me." Click to watch. Thank you to Gesu’s Choir Director, H.L. Ratliff and Bassist, Troy Bennefield.

Dancing with the Students shined with an upbeat medley of tango, swing, and meringue. Our thanks to Susan Martinelli Shea and to Mike Dees for the fantastic choreography.

Alumna Lauren Robinson ’12 shared her powerful story of how Gesu’s faculty and unique programs enabled her to forge a bright future as a successful Temple University student, a “woman for others,” and a budding advertising executive. Students shared their career hopes and ambitions--engineering, law, fashion design, and teaching.

Thank you to Gesu’s talented young artists and their dedicated Teacher, Linda Hartzell for sharing such beautiful artwork in the silent auction. The Gesu crochet club created handcrafted scarves to enhance this year’s auction.

Gesu Alumnus and artist, Saeed Brisco '05 created a live painting depicting a Gesu graduate and generously auctioned the piece. Thank you to Saeed for sharing his talent and his Gesu story.

Vie was a lovely setting for the evening.
