Gesu students and staff are brimming with hope for this new school year. The excitement was palpable as we welcomed our 430 students into our building.
Now, more than ever, Gesu remains steadfast in our mission: empowering students to transcend poverty through innovative education. As we forge ahead, Gesu continues to implement strict safety protocols. We recognize the challenges that each of us in our community has endured this last year. We are meeting students where they are, utilizing creative teaching methods and emphasizing wellness. We appreciate our students, teachers, and staff for the resilience and heart they exhibit each day.
(Below) Gesu faculty and staff greeted each student on the first day of school. Teachers and students jumped right into learning and building classroom communities. See more photos on our Facebook or Instagram pages.
Gesu welcomed our Pre-K and Kindergarten students in small groups to adjust to their new classrooms and meet their teachers and friends. Teachers integrated social emotional learning through storytelling and inviting students to share their feelings about coming to school. Visit our Facebook and Instagram pages for more photos.
Gesu partnered with our neighbors at St. Joseph's Prep for a back-to-school event. Families from multiple neighborhood schools enjoyed outdoor games, music, and a picnic. See media coverage of the event.
Thanks to Gesu Vice Principal Alana Lee for her leadership and to the Prep’s Mission and Ministry Leadership Board for volunteering, Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia for donating hundreds of backpacks, and all who provided school supplies. See more photos on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
