Stellar performances close 2013 with a bang!

Gesu's annual Christmas Concert and the 1st grade Christmas pageant closed out 2013 with joy and cheer.

On December 18th at the Church of the Gesu, the Gesu Gospel Choir warmed the audience's hearts with both traditional and modern Christmas selections—including a new holiday tune popularized this year by a Glade commercial. The tune, "This is My Wish," was so hot off the presses that the choir only had one day to master the music. Choir director and music teacher H.L.Ratliff did a tremendous job preparing the students for a first-class performance.

During the program, eighth grader Christian wowed concert guests with his piano performance of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Angels We Have Heard on High." For the last several years, Christian has studied under Augie Asta—advanced math teacher by day, piano teacher by afternoon—and has developed into quite the pianist. The soloists, including 6th grader Yasheer and 8th grader Ian, made all who know them proud by the tremendous amount they have grown over the years.

The evening's performance was covered by Action News

The first grade presented the story of Christmas to the school on the last day before the break. Their dedication and practice shone through in their stellar performance.
